- Staffing and Security
- Any time the buildings are open to the public, or there are contractors present, there must be at least one Society or Genealogy Committee member present and designated as "in-charge".
- A person must be a member for at least a year before being allowed to hold keys or work without supervision.
- The buildings (and caboose) must be locked during lunch breaks or any other time a member is not present.
- The "in-charge" member is responsible for turning off all lights, setting the furnace, flipping the "OPEN" sign, and locking the doors.
- Anyone discovering vandalism or intrusion is to contact the police immediately. Do not wait for Board approval or action.
- Schedule (Closed on holidays.)
- Main Museum
- First Saturday of each month, May thru October, 9AM until 3PM
- Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend (Old Timers) 9AM until 3PM
- Other times by special arrangements
- Genealogy Library
- Mondays & Saturdays, May thru October, 9AM until 3PM
- Closed on holidays
- Other times by special arrangements
- Depot
- Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend (Old Timers) 9AM until 3PM
- Other times by special arrangements
- Admission to the museums is open to all under these conditions:
- No discrimination
- We regret that it is not practical to equip our main building to ADA standards.
- The Depot is all on one level and accessible via a ramp into the baggage room.
- The inside of the Caboose is not handicap accessible.
- Accept all liability
- Sign the Guest Book
- Not touch any displays or be otherwise disruptive
- Stay with the docent
- Not bring in any food or drink. No smoking anywhere inside the buildings.
- Maintain a peaceful, respectful "library" environment.
- Leave promptly at closing time or when requested to do so
- Definitions
- Adequate Notice
- Minimum 2 weeks notice of an event: verbal/personal, verbal/phone, email, postal mail, newspaper
- Gift
- Free-and-clear, no strings attached gift to the organization
- Owned
- Article with clear title belonging exclusively to the Society
- Loaned
- Article loaned to the Society with clear indications that the donor wishes have it returned at some point in time.
- Purchased
- Article purchased with funds belonging to the Society.
- Abandoned
- After diligent research, no legitimate owner can be found.
- Excess
- Duplicate, Not Needed, Better displayed at another institution
- Unfit
- Worn, Dirty, Irrelevant, Broken, Unrepairable, Contaminated...
